What do new season Premier League kit shows tell us?
Men in shorts, arms crossed -
It is no secret that football clubs are brands as much as they are cultural institutions today. Premier League teams are as image-aware as any electronics http://www.retailblazer.com/buy-cheap-nike-air-force-1-low-canvas-supreme-max-air-navy-white.html.giant, auto manufacturer or energy business. When it comes time to unveil the kits for a fresh season, the reveals are handled as carefully as those of gadget, telephone or a brand new auto, with each club also to each other and seeking to send a message to their fans.
But what are these kit reveals - videos, pictures, hashtags 'n' all - attempting to tell us? We looked at five (and one w Full Record.ld card) from this summer in a play to find out.
The Message: "We Are United" - no matter what happened last year...
Last Season: Dramatic collapse under David 'The William H. Macy of Football' Moyes following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. In-fighting, botched the development of a crippling addiction and transfer windows to plane messages flown over stadia ensued, along with an avalanche of obstructing Moyes memes.
The Process: United have gone all out in a bid to banish the ghosts of the previous season and unite the devotees by making them purchase a fancy new Nike top. At the kit reveal, they are throwing everything in much exactly the same manner as United would have done in those closing 'Fergie Time' minutes and seeing what sticks.
On the downside, Marouane Fellaini's managed to sneak directly into shot like the ghost at the feast, thwacking people in the cheek.
What they actually mean: "Sorry for last year, the ghost at the feast cool though correct? Right?"
Liverpool
Last Season: A surprise title challenge and some of the most consistently entertaining football in Air Force one.the league couldn't eclipse "that slip". However, second position means they'll return to the Champions League and Suarez will certainly... oh...
The Procedure: Despite lacking the multi-pronged approach of their competitors from down the East Lancs, the kit in Liverpool show manages to cram multiple layers of significance in to a single image.
At first glance, it resembles Gerrard, Sturridge and Sterling are stood before a red drape - fitting, considering their newly found status as consummate entertainers - but on closer inspection, the reddish backdrop is a shipping container, harking back to the city's storied history as a port.
It's a fascinating nod to the city 's working class heritage when three multi millionaires are the ones if that calls not somewhat true. Not bad for scousers.
What they're really saying: "Season 2 of The Wire is covertly the best one."
